You might have some questions about our REFINANCE, REMODEL and REDMOND Church. We hope this helps answer your questions!
Q: What is Journey doing about the parking situation?
We have evaluated the surrounding area and have found over 1,000 parking spots within a 1/3 mile. We hope to utilize the free city parking lots/spaces, in addition to partnering with surrounding businesses who do not use their parking spaces on Sundays.
Q: What will happen to the restaurant?
Journey will continue to work with the restaurant to allow them to operate under the current lease. They do have the option to renew the lease in April of 2020. We have informed them that there will be no penalty should they opt to terminate the lease before it ends. In the meantime, the lease agreement puts us in a stronger position for our refinance as it shows additional income to the church.
Q: Can Journey expand the current building to accommodate continued growth?
Absolutely. We are currently utilizing the space as it was. However, with the help of engineers, architects and artists the 18,000 sq/ft space will be better utilized for all ages. Once we become the sole occupant of the building we will be able to expand the auditorium to a maximum capacity of 500-600 chairs (currently maximum capacity is 350).
Q: Haven’t we already outgrown the building?
Presently, we are creatively utilizing the current space, as-is (i.e. we currently operate 3 services on Sundays, nightly small group and youth group meetings and office we house our office space). This space has so much more potential. In moving walls and creating a strategic design, we will be able to accommodate a significantly larger amount of people on Sundays as well as our weekly programs.
Q: What’s the plan for the kids space?
The kids space will be evaluated by a “dream team” to design the most effective and efficient space possible to foster safety and spiritual growth in our families. We dream of a crazy fun space that kids will want to be in and teachers will thrive sharing the Gospel in.
Q: Should I re-direct my tithe to the building campaign?
No. Journey Church still has operating expenses that are allocated separately from the money we are raising to purchase the facility. The amount we have designated to raise by May will give us enough money for both our refinance and phase 1 of our remodel of our building. We are challenging current givers to give sacrificially by giving above and beyond current giving. In addition, we are asking people who currently do not give to consider giving towards the building fund and/or to begin giving regularly.

Q: If Journey doesn’t raise the $1,000,000 what happens to my gift?
It will remain in a money market account and only used on future building plans.
Q: How do the Journey financials look?
Journey's only debt is the mortgage on our downtown Bend building. Journey has never begged for money. The leaders at Journey church are honored that the financials have been reviewed by accountants and outside eyes and have proven strong for a young church. We currently have over $500,000 in our collective bank accounts (checking, savings and money market).
Q: Will we have to leave the building temporarily during the renovations?
During the phase 1 bathroom repair/remodel, we do not believe we will need to vacate the building for any length of time. We do know we will be using temporary restrooms while the project is underway. The leadership of the church will be transparent in this process as the plans unfold and when/how it will happen.
Q: When will Phase 1(bathroom repair/remodel) began?
We do not anticipate starting before the refinance is completed. We are currently working with our General Contractor, Sun West Builders, to determine an appropriate start date. Our hope is that we can begin phase 1 sometime during the summer of 2019.
Q: How much will Phase 1 (bathroom repair/remodel) cost?
The estimated cost of Phase 1 is $500,000. This includes the work by Sun West Builders as well as additional costs we as owners have to incur which includes renting temporary restrooms and upgrading the buildings entire electrical service.
Q: That seems very expensive, what do we gain with this remodel?
This Phase of the project has been designed with the future in mind. We have 12 toilets currently. Phase 1 will bring our total toilet count up to 25 toilets. This includes two family restrooms on the lower level that will have both adult and kid sized toilets/sinks.
Q: How much will is cost to start a Journey Church in Redmond?
The cost for our Redmond Church is still unknown. There are several details that we are actively working through.
Q: Where will Journey Church in Redmond meet?
This too is yet to be determined. Our hope is to find a space to rent that would also us to have a "permanent" location. It is out hope that not only will we have church on Sundays, but we will also be able to host mid-week activities like Rooted, youth groups, etc. Please be praying for God's provision and timing as we look to identify a location in the summer/fall of 2019.
